2014 marked the first year of the AMPA Student Travel Award.  The award was designed to support a medical physicist in training and to offset a portion of the travel costs associated with attending a national or international conference in Medical Physics.  To receive the award, the student must be enrolled in an Alberta-based Medical Physics graduate program (M.Sc. or Ph.D.), be a student member of AMPA, and must be travelling to present their original research.  This year's award was presented to Devin Baillie, a Ph.D. student at the University of Alberta.  He traveled to Austin, Texas to the annual AAPM conference and delivered a presentation entitled "New compact 10 MV S-band linear accelerator: 3D Finite-Element design and Monte Carlo dose simulations."  Congratulations, Devin!  If you'd like to take a look at Devin's abstract, you can find it here.
